Places of interest to me

I've recently been playing around with how to make bootable CDs. Its very handy for preserving old games and old operating systems. Here are a couple of the sites I found useful.

I finally bit the bullet and learned how to use BitTorrent. Here are the two search engines I use.

A bit ago I put together a Star Trek game and needed some graphics. These are some useful sites I found with good graphics and fun material.

I don't know about you but I hate copy-protection. If I own a game I don't want to have to be continually swapping out CDs. I use these two sites to crack the games I own so I don't have to CD swap.

This is the church that I goto, i'm posting it because I always loose their site. :)

Genetic Algorithms! This is one of my favorite topics. I have written 4 life simulators and two practical applications. Here is a website or two that may spark your interest.
  • Gene Pool - This is by far my favorite ALife simulator to date. The user friendly GUI make it fun to play with. Unforutnily it has a constant energy supply so you usually end up with a single species world.

  • Morph Lab - This is an interesting GA simulator I often use for generating unique game ship designs. It is completely human driven.

  • Lifedrop - An interesting ALife example that can be run from the web-page. But I yet to have a world survive more than 10 minutes.

  • Soda Zoo - A web based 2d creature system. There is no real evolution but it introduces an interesting system of rendering and interacting with virtual lifeforms.

  • Primordial Life - An interesting ALife simulation with realtime physics interactions between creatures. The population remains small but it introduces some interesting shape based evolution.

  • Gen Arts - Karl Sims takes ALife to the next level with full physics support and 3D evolution. He mainly focuses on single actions and does not have any combined worlds yet.

  • Frame Sticks - Similar to Karl Sims work, Frame Sticks represent a true 3D physics driven world.

  • Stewdean - An interesting site about artifical life in general. No samples, but some useful information.

Here are some websites of current DarkStride members. Read and enjoy!

This is a collection of websites that I regularly use when programming my games.

If your into free online movies and TV shows these two web sites are pretty kewl. They suffere from some performance problems, and you have to use FireFox... oh and beware, there is bare dare-e-air on their ads.

I've started collecting good programming sound effect sites, these are the best i've got so far. Several of them even have musical scores... legally!

Well a friend hooked me on webcommics. This is the current crop i'm reading on a daily basis.

If your into Anime, here are a collection of sites where you can download torrents for them.
  • Anime Nuke - Has a good collection and is usually posted fairly quickly
